Qatar 2022 Qatar has been selected to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, making it the first country to do so. The Qatar National Football Association (NFA) applied for the right to host the tournament in December 2010 and was awarded it on December 2nd 2014. The Qatari bid committee stated that they were confident of winning because they had prepared extensively and were ready to put on a spectacular event.
